About Elm Home Care

Built by people
who have lived it.

Co-founded by Dr. Ross Kopelman and Lois a physician and a home care aide who witnessed what truly exceptional care looks like, and decided to build an agency around that standard.

Our Story

How Elm Home Care was built

Elm Home Care was co-founded by Dr. Ross Kopelman and Lois, a home care aide who spent years providing extraordinary, dedicated care to Dr. Kopelman's 99-year-old grandmother.

Dr. Kopelman watched Lois work up close, day after day. He watched the patience Lois showed on the hardest days. The remarkable consistency he maintained every single shift. The way he treated Dr. Kopelman’s grandmother not as a patient or a job, but as a full human being deserving of complete dignity, genuine conversation, and real warmth. Even after years.
That experience made something very clear: truly great home care is rare. Most families settle for less without realizing it. And the gap between adequate care and excellent care is not a small one. It changes everything about how an elderly person experiences their final years at home.
Together, Dr. Kopelman and Lois understood exactly what it takes to do this work with real excellence the character it requires, the training it demands, and the personal commitment it cannot exist without. So they decided to build Elm.
Elm Home Care exists to be the agency they always wished had existed: one where every aide is specifically trained, personally vetted, and fully prepared before they ever walk into a client’s home. Where families are not handed off to an anonymous coordinator once the paperwork is signed. Where the standard is set by someone who has actually done this work with their own hands and done it exceptionally well.
We operate from our office at 17 Lane Drive, Englewood, NJ and serve older adults and people who need daily living support across Bergen County and all of Northern New Jersey. Non-medical, private pay, and built from the beginning on the belief that high-end home care should not be a luxury. It should be the standard.

Lois Sets the Standard

Lois built the bar.
We built the agency around it

Lois spent years perfecting the art of in-home care for Dr. Kopelman's grandmother learning what truly makes someone feel safe, cared for, and genuinely at ease in their own home.

That experience became the blueprint for Elm. Every aide we hire goes through Lois’s training program before their very first day with a client. Because when a family trusts you with someone they love, that person deserves someone who is truly, completely ready not learning on the job.
